Hi! My name is René de Beer, I am from Ballito and have always loved living near the ocean. I have a deep passion for working with people and sharing my knowledge to empower others. When I had to choose my subjects in high school and apply for university, I found the process very overwhelming. This experience fuelled my desire to become a Psychometrist, helping others make informed subject and career choices.
Beyond my work, I love spending time outdoors and staying active. I enjoy spending time with my miniature Yorkshire Terrier and I absolutely love all types of dogs. I recently took up golf, which has taught me a lot of patience and perseverance. When I’m not outdoors, I enjoy getting lost in a good book. Whether it’s through movement or mindfulness, I always seek out activities that inspire growth and balance in my life.

How the process works
Below is a detailed breakdown of what to expect for a subject choice/ career guidance assessment process. Please do not be anxious about any of the assessments, this process is to help you uncover your personal strengths and interests within the occupational field.
No prior preparation needs to be done for the assessment. If you are on any chronic medication, please ensure that you take it before your assessments. Also, the assessment days are lengthy so be sure to pack something to eat and drink.
Once you have booked, paid and completed the intake form and consent form then the 4-step process begins:
Book your AssessmentSession 1: Intake Interview
This introductory session allows René to understand your child’s background, goals, and any prior assessments or reports they may have. This is a 45-minute to 1-hour session where both the child and parents are involved.
Session 2: Assessment Day 1
The first assessment day includes informal screener assessments, personality tests, and an interest test. This session lasts around 3 hours and is designed to help students explore career options, understand their personality types, and discover areas of interest. (Only the student needs to attend assessment)
Session 3: Assessment Day 2
The second assessment day involves a more detailed aptitude test, taking approximately 4.5 hours. This session provides further insight into your child’s cognitive strengths and how they align with potential career paths. (Only the student needs to attend assessment)
Session 4: Feedback and Recommendations
The final session for student and parents provides a detailed report with career recommendations, including study options and institutions. This session is designed to give clarity and empower your child to make informed decisions.
What you receive at the end of the assessment
René’s detailed report will not only highlight potential career paths but will also provide practical recommendations on where and how to pursue these careers.
This includes information about universities, courses, and the current job market. The goal is to give your child the confidence to explore and select a career that aligns with their passions and strengths.
